Stephanie Douglas '08 was named Franklin & Marshall College’s Third Clare Boothe Luce Scholar. Stephanie is a junior astrophysics major. The award is considered to be the most significant source of private support for women interested in science, engineering and mathematics. It is named for Clare Boothe Luce, a playwright, editor, ambassador and member of the U.S. House of Representatives. To read more, click here.

According to The Gazette's Fall Preview for girls tennis, Stone Ridge is seen as the Darkhorse. The senior-laden squad hopes to bring the team to the top of the ISL. Sue Ghosh and Kelly Mulquin top the Gators' lineup.

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart was one of four schools profiled in the August Private Schools Special Supplement from The Gazette. Alumnae Cokie Roberts '60, was on the cover standing in front of Hamilton House. Ms. Roberts said "I would not be doing what I do today were it not for the Sacred Heart nuns and Stone Ridge." Roberts credits the school with empowering young women by giving them the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Ms. Roberts also expressed appreciations for the school's "sense of intellectual fun."

The Book Barn needs volunteers to sort books by categories for the spring used book sale. No experience is necessary. The Book Barn is open every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, and one Sunday each month, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Regular shifts are welcome, as well as drop-ins. Habitat for Humanity waiver forms and Stone Ridge Field Trip permission form due back to the office by Monday September 13.

Thursday, September 23 from 7:45 – 9:00 am starting in the chapel. This wonderful event gets this special year off to a great start!

This Friday, September 3, is the first Gator Gear Day, and students in the Lower School are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing Stone Ridge gear to school.  Appropriate attire for Gator Gear Day includes:
• A Stone Ridge t-shirt or sweatshirt – Field Day, SR Mother’s Day, “I am a Stone Ridge Girl,” and any other Gator Gallery shirts are acceptable
• Long, kaki or black pants (no jeans), or skirts
• School shoes

This meeting, for parents only, begins 7:00 pm in the Duchesne Center (400 level) and is followed by classroom visits.
